   Charles de Montaigu
Visionary, Charles de Montaigu is taken into the whirlwind of his new sculptures rythmed by the Sevillane, a warm and enveloping dance, where gracefulness, ardour and the rustling of the ribbon close-fitting dresses of the women, awaken the senses.

Their quick and impassioned steps hamerring the ground invade the imaginary, and the rounded shaped sculptures, in a vertiginous taking flight close to unstable equilibrium, and in a rumbling of woven thrown into space, are moving, turning, spinning round, dancing and dancing more…

Sculpted in cedar-tree wood -, a wood carefully chosen for its rythmed veins -, the swirling shapes, pointing the character of each one, contribute to the suggestion of movement. And although static in the space, they shimmer on a sparkling base, reflecting the light, which participates to the dash and the exuberant and languorous delight they deliver.

On another side of the exihbition, the « Napolitains » and the « Naos » affirm themselves in the verticality. It is the masculine gender that predominates. These sculptures are built with elements of different size that fit together on a base, playing the full and the empty, allowing sometimes light to go through, or creating shadows in function of their architecture. Certain Naos, - among them one made of olive-tree wood -, are of geometric expression, with a heart of light, in adequation with the term naos, coming from the Greek, meaning the center or the heart of a temple.

The impetuous temperament of the exhibition is punctuated with a series of small size paintings, combining colour and geometrism, with warm tones and audacious contrasts, typical of the talents of painter of the artist. A stimulating breath and an originality with « Montagusian » consonances !
